5th Grade - Important Information
The 5th-grade staff here at B. McDaniel would like to let you know how excited we are to have your student join us this year! Below, we have addressed a few important questions that you might have about the upcoming school year. Please feel free to contact any of your student’s teachers at any time during the year for any other concerns you might have. Thank you for helping us make this a fantastic year for your student at B. McDaniel!
Before School Procedures
7:30 - 8:10 Students sit on their team hall.
Free Breakfast Available
Optional FREE breakfast served to ALL students in Cafeteria 7:30-8:30 am
After School Dismissal
3:30 Students will be walked to the buses or to the car rider wait area inside the building. Walkers
and car riders will be dismissed out the south entrance. Car riders will be dismissed as parents
arrive. Pick-up for 5th-grade students is through the EAST loop only. Parents must drive
through the loop to pick up their child. Students will not be permitted to walk to the street to
get in cars. Parents cannot park in the teacher parking lot or on the side streets and walk up to get
their child. Thank you for your cooperation in this area of student safety.
Classroom Expectations
Students will be safe. Students will be respectful. Students will be responsible.
Consequences (for same offense)
1st - Verbal Warning
2nd - Write in planner - require parent signature.
3rd - Parent phone call/email.
4th - After school detention **Office Referral for severe or continuing behavior issues.
Hallway Expectations
Students will keep their hands, feet, and objects to themselves, walk on the right side of the hallway,
and use zero level voices.
Binders/Backpacks
Students will not carry backpacks at B. McDaniel. Each student is asked to carry a zipper binder.
This should be sufficient to house their planners, work, and supplies.
Planners
Planners are provided for each student on the first day of school. Parents will be expected to replace the planner if lost for a fee of $5. The planners are used as a communication tool between teachers and parents. Its core purpose is to teach students organizational skills to help them succeed in their academic goals. It is an important life skill that we, as a staff, want to foster.
