Welcome to Hyde Park Elementary, home of the Tigers! My name is Becky Suthers and I am excited to be the principal at Hyde Park Elementary. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and my Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University. In July of 1999, my family and I moved to Weatherford, Texas where I began my career in education teaching 5th and 6th grade ELA and Social Studies. In 2003 I began working as a national teacher trainer and consultant for Teachers’ Curriculum Institute (TCI), mainly during the summer so as not to interfere with my teaching job.  In 2007 we moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma, my hometown, and I spent the next 3 years working full time for TCI.  The last 10 years I drove across the state line and worked in a small rural town called Higgins, Texas as an elementary teacher and then principal. Throughout my career, I have served schools and students in many different roles: teacher, coach, interventionist, testing coordinator, RTI coordinator, and administrator. No matter the role, no matter the location, my primary goal is to support the school community and do what is best for children. I strongly view a collaborative environment as the key to a successful school.

My husband and I have 2 grown children who are married with children of their own and living in the Oklahoma City area.  We also have 3 incredibly precious grandchildren: a 2 year old girl, a 13 month old boy, and a 5 month old girl. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

I have wanted to settle in north central Texas, specifically the Texoma region, for many years and am thrilled to be in Denison! Everything I have learned about your district, Hyde Park Elementary, and the Denison community has further convinced me that I made the right choice.  I look forward to getting to know each of you and learning about the rich traditions and history of Denison ISD and Hyde Park Elementary.
